A “whole-body” approach to care.

Our “whole-body” rehabilitation system that focuses on the whole “you” is a more complete approach to physical therapy. It is built around the concept that your relief and recovery depend on treating your problem and the effects it can have on the rest of your body. The comprehensive nature of the whole-body rehabilitation system allows Recovery Zone to better identify and treat the underlying causes of your pain, some of which may be far away from where the symptoms are. They utilize hands-on treatment to correct postural alignment and specific exercise programs to maintain flexibility and strength of the body. The many treatment options and programs available at Recovery Zone Physical Therapy include:

  • Manual therapy (hands-on), including visceral mobilization, which helps with all kinds of restrictions in the body; muscle energy techniques, which realign the spine; & advanced strain/counterstrain, to eliminate tension & strains
  • Craniosacral therapy
  • McKenzie Method spinal & disc therapy
  • Manual perceptions & fascial regulators (techniques developed by a renowned massage therapist designed to work with your body’s natural self-healing process)

Frequency Specific MicrocurrentFrequency Specific Microcurrent

Recovery Zone is one of the few physical therapy centers using Frequency Specific Microcurrent to treat patients with nerve and muscle pain. This new and very effective technique has been used over the past 15 years with some exceptional results.

Microcurrent is a current measured in millionths of an amp and is the same current our own cells make to increase its own energy production. In comparison to other therapy systems, such as TENS, which use milliamps, the microcurrent is 1000 times greater.

The therapist uses graphite gloves or pads to pass the current from the machine to the body. The pads deliver frequencies to your body that are believed to be good for your whole system and not just the muscles. While the graphite gloves allow the therapist to feel your muscles and pass the current exactly where it is needed. As the muscles and tissues react to different frequencies the therapist can change the frequency to achieve the desired effect. The tissue will soften and become less painful at the correct frequency and the pain relief that is achieved seems to be long lasting and in many cases permanent. Of course, every patient responds differently however results have shown to be long lasting.  About 60-80% of the changes created in one treatment last until the next treatment, about 4-7 days. Your muscle memory may return to its old configuration if not treated again. Although some patients have had permanent changes in one treatment, the average number of treatments depends on the complexity of the problem.

Your body uses microcurrent energy to increase its own energy production of ATP (its own chemical energy) by up to 500%. This also boosts protein synthesis and waste product removal. It is therefore common to experience a detoxification reaction after treatment – which in some patients is similar effects from a deep tissue massage, in others, nausea, fatigue and drowsiness or a temporary flu-like ache can be felt. Drinking ample fluids after treatment helps the body flush out the toxins and decrease side effects.
